As an end user, how to use UmiKey?
Insert UmiKey to a USB port on your computer (PC, Mac, Linux, ...).
- If it is the first time UmiKey inserts to the USB port, at the corner the OS prompts

The new device is ready to use
- UmiKey's LED starts blinking, auto-navigation set by your UmiKey issuer auto-starts
the browser (or some application)
- Browser lands on the issuer's web site and auto-types in:
- UmiKey ID - from UmiKey ID the user bound to
the UmiKey can be found
- UmiKey one-time password- used to prove the UmiKey
is legitimate
*If auto-navigation doesn't kick in ...
- Remove it from the USB port then insert again. Keep fingers away from the
keyboard and mouse. Wait for 5 seconds for auto-navigation to start.
- Maybe if is because your UmiKey does not have auto-navigation set?
Try to manually navigate to the web site, in the UmiKey input box,
press the UmiKey button see if it generates the one-time password?
- Is the USB port working, try a different USB port, or try another PC.
- Repair your OS installation, the HID (Human Interface Device) DLL may be missing?
This is like your ATM card usage, when the ATM card inserts into the ATM machine:
- ATM machine knows who you are already, so you don't need to keyin the long
account number
- ATM machine verifies if your ATM card is a legit one
- Then you are asked for a simple PIN
- Some web site asks for a PIN for 2nd-factor authentication so thieves who
stole your UmiKey cannot log in on your behalf.
If you want to use UmiKey on other web sites or applications:
- Launch the web site (or application)
- Put the cursor in the UmiKey input box like this
- Press the UmiKey button
- After verifying UmiKey OK, you will be led to the next page
